Three former Lehighton residents were killed in a crash in Florida by what police say was a man driving under the influence.
The victims were a father, mother, and son: 76-year-old Robert Getter, 73-year-old Karen Getter, and 52-year-old Samuel Getter according to Channel 10 news in Tampa.
Florida Highway Patrol said that Joshua Eric Burbank, 25, was intoxicated when he drove his Honda Civic into a GMC Sierra truck carrying three people.
The collision sent the truck into a rollover where it traveled over the barrier wall and into Tampa Bay, according to Channel 10 news.
Two victims were pronounced dead at the scene and the third was transported to an area hospital where they later died.
In addition to the three counts of DUI manslaughter, Burbank was also charged with one count of DUI property damage and careless driving. He suffered minor injuries and was arrested at the scene.
He has since been released from Pinellas County Jail. Burbank spent about 12 hours in jail. His bail was set at $61,000.
