Lansford man facing charges in Tamaqua

A Lansford man is facing charges after a crash in Tamaqua on June 22.

Julio Sezar Alvarado, 20, of 230 E. Patterson St., was driving his brother's car at 1:29 a.m. when he struck a parked car on Greenwood Street. The second car was pushed into a fire hydrant at the intersection of Biddle and Greenwood streets. Alvarado left that scene and then struck a second vehicle parked further south on Greenwood Street. He got out of the car and ran but was seen by multiple witnesses entering a home in the unit block of North Greenwood Street.Police identified the owner of the hit-and-run vehicle and went to his home but no one answered. All three vehicles were towed from the scene. Police were assisted by the Tamaqua Fire Department and the Tamaqua Water Department.Alvarado turned himself in to police at 2:42 p.m. that day. He will be charged with hit-and=run.
