Palmerton school updated on HVAC

The Palmerton Area School Board received an update Tuesday on the heating, ventilation and air conditioning project at the high school.

Timothy Sisock, a project manager with Barry Isett and Associates' office in Scranton, said the HVAC project is underway. The mechanical and general contractors have been in and the ceiling tiles, grid and insulation are down. All of the purchase orders for the equipment have been placed and should come in over the next several weeks. They did run into one issue, he said. The electrical inspector went through the building and discovered that wires were improperly tied to the ceiling.Although there will be an unexpected expense to fix this, the school district will see a $95,000 savings in the cost of insulation.Instead of the more expensive Armaflex insulation, Fiberglas insulation will be used."(The savings) will go toward the costs of the electrical changes," Sisock said.

Construction work at Palmerton Area High School has begun on the heating, ventilation and air conditioning. Although most of the work is inside the building, some work is also being done outside. KRISTINE PORTER/TIMES NEWS
