State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks are investigating an armed burglary that happened at 2:09 a.m. Wednesday when a man armed with a baseball bat broke into and robbed a Girardville home.

The incident happened on W. Ogden Street.Police said the man forcefully entered the residence and took a purse owned by the victim before fleeing. The purse was lying near the door.Police said the man was wearing bluejeans and a gray hoodie and had a gray scarf covering his face.Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact trooper Justin Humanick at the barracks, at 570-739-1330.
