Rush sewer project irks residents

A proposed high-end sewer line project in Rush Township has been met with resistance.

One resident and one business owner took the township's board of supervisors to task Thursday over the Lincoln Drive sanitary sewer line project.Resident Jerome Tracy told supervisors he installed a new septic system 12 years ago, and shouldn't have to connect to the new sewer line."My septic tank is like new," Tracy said. "Everyone you talk to, they don't want to sign that easement, and I'll tell you right now, they can't afford it."Businessman Kory Bates said he believes they should have approached the project differently."I believe none of these people should have to pay," Bates said. "I tried to negotiate with them; they bid and designed the whole project without talking to me."Bates said the project was initially planned to go through the tract of land he owns."These guys are more interested in proving a point then doing what is right for the taxpayers of the community," he said.
