West Penn Township is forming a crime watch group.

Supervisors' Chairman James Dean said last week the purpose of the crime watch is to "begin to look at ways to promoting safety in our various communities."Anyone who would like to volunteer for the group may contact the township secretary and discuss their interest and availability.Last month, several residents voiced concerns to the board about crimes they say have occurred throughout the township.Also at last week's meeting, supervisors agreed to hire a pair of part-time officers to the township's police department.Harry Brown and Russell Dawson were hired at a rate of $15 an hour.Terry Ahner
