Energy saleswomen didn't have permits

Three women trying to sell electricity programs in Tamaqua found themselves answering to charges after two of them reportedly became combative with a potential customer.

According to police, two of the three knocked on the door of a house on Union Street after 4 p.m. June 10 and asked to see the resident's energy bill.When the woman answering the door refused to produce her energy bill, the saleswomen began to argue with her. The resident then contacted police.Police said the women represented IDT Energy and Direct Energy Co. However, none of the three had a permit to solicit in the community.As a result, Charese Anthony, 26, of Philadelphia; Taja Price, 26, and Joi Cantice Smith, 26, both of Wilkes-Barre; were charged with soliciting without a permit.
