Two blocks on White Street in Summit Hill will be repaved this summer under a contract the Carbon County Board of Commissioners awarded on Thursday.

The board granted a contract to the Lehigh Asphalt Paving and Construction Co., Tamaqua, in the amount of $77,695. The other bidders were Pennsy Supply, Pittston, asking $103,085, and Bruce George Paving and Excavating, Kunkletown, $87,195.The project will be completed with the use of Community Development Block Grant funds. It calls for resurfacing of White Street, from Market to Walnut streets and from Oak to Pine streets.Carbon County receives about $200,000 annually in CDBG funding, which it utilizes for grants to nonentitlement communities, including those with populations under 4,000.
