A Monroe County man has been arrested in connection with a homicide that occurred in New York City.

Jesus Mercedes, 28, of Sylvan Lane in Pocono Summit, was taken into custody in Monroe County last week by detectives with Pocono Mountain Regional Police and NYPD.On June 7, Mercedes was brought to Pocono Mountain Regional’s station, and arrested for homicide. After a judge approved an extradition order, Mercedes was transported to New York June 9.In the press release, Pocono Mountain Regional Police said the department initially investigated Mercedes in February 2015 after a domestic incident involving him and his brother.They added that the investigation involved officers from NYPD’s 115th district, which is located in Queens. No additional details on the homicide were provided.According to criminal records, a Jesus Mercedes is set to appear June 16 in a court in Queens. The charges are in connection with an incident that occurred Feb. 12, 2012.
