While there, the minor was permitted to ride a pony owned by the defendant without use of a lead, helmet or any type of safety equipment, it is alleged. The suit states that the pony subsequently bucked the minor off and she landed on her left arm, causing injuries detailed in the suit.Negligence is alleged against the defendant for the incident and injuries. Sought are compensatory damages in an amount in excess of arbitration limits of Carbon County.Slip and fall suitsTwo civil suits seeking damages have been filed as the result of falls which caused injuries.Stacy Mertz, 332 N. Third St., Lehighton, filed a civil complaint against Robert and Deborah Strausberger, 346 N. Fourth St., Lehighton. At the time of the alleged incident the defendants were operators of a dance studio known as TNT Studio of Dance Inc.The suit states on Feb. 10, 2015, the plaintiff was a business invitee of the defendants and walking in a parking lot near and alongside the building listed, when she was caused to slip and fall due to an unnatural accumulation of ice, causing her to sustain injuries which are detailed in the suit.Negligence is alleged and sought are damages in excess of $50,000 on each of six counts.The second suit was filed by Kathleen B. and Michael R. Hein, 332 Fairview St., Lehighton, against Penn’s Peak, LLC, 613 Third St., Palmerton, which the suit states operates an entertainment facility known as Penn’s Peak at 325 Maury Road, Jim Thorpe.The suit states during the evening hours of March 6, 2015, the plaintiffs were at the entertainment facility and walking in a pedestrian walkway in the parking area to their vehicle when Michael Hein was caused to slip and fall on “black ice” causing injuries detailed in the suit.Negligence is alleged against the defendant and sought are damages in excess of $50,000.
