Father's Day gifts for dad

Forget the tie and cologne. Those traditional Father's Day gifts are acceptable but a little trite, don't you think? Especially if you have a dad who loves to hunt, because there are literally hundreds of gifts he would like.

There's a saying - "There's only one best dog in the world, and everybody has it." The same could be said for dads. Your dad is the best in the world. There are so many things he would love to receive as a Father's Day gift. And that's the problem. How do you choose from those hundreds of choices? So I've made it easy for you by picking two items which a little "out of the box" in most people's thinking, but definitely belong "in the Father's Day gift box."Here you go:A Laser BoresightThis is a gift guaranteed to give dad more free time. It can be very frustrating to sight in a firearm. Let's say dad's shots are three inches to the right, and three inches low. Despite long minutes and perhaps hours of making adjustments to his scope, it still isn't right. He's wasted a box of ammo, and an afternoon.A boresight is an amazing improvement on that kind of outing. Here's how it works - it is chambered into the rifle just as a bullet would be. A person looks through the scope and sees the bright and steady red laser light. The scope is adjusted until the red light of the laser lines up in the center of the crosshairs. Done.Make sure you get the right one. For example, the 30.06 size boresight will work for the following calibers, 25.06, .270, 35 Whelan, 338.06.A universal mediaviewer for trail camerasTrail cameras are so much fun. But, in keeping with the theme of helping dad save time, he needs this viewer. Without a viewer, Dad makes a visit to the trail camera, takes out the SD card, takes it to a computer and has a look at the images. He then returns the SD card to the trail camera. There are two problems with this. First, every time you visit the trail camera you're spreading more human scent in the area; and second, it takes too much time. With a Media Viewer, you can remove the SD card from your trail camera and insert it into the viewer, looking at images on a large display screen. These screens have great clarity and with most, you can also zoom in on certain areas of an image. It has a USB socket so that it can be connected to a computer.Either or both of the gifts will be time savers for your dad. And that's the thing about these "best dads in the world." If you have one, the best gift is being able to spend more time with him.

The best gift for a father is a day in the field. Gifts that will help him save time will translate to more time in the field. CONTRIBUTED PHOTO
