Summit Hill driver cited in hit-and-run

A Summit Hill man was cited after a hit-and-run incident in Tamaqua on May 21.

Police were called to the Spruce and Center streets intersection at 1:18 p.m. for a crash. Both vehicles were driven to the Family Dollar Store parking lot, but one of the drivers, Jeffrey Tee, 27, of Summit Hill, fled when he learned police were responding.Tee had "borrowed" his mother's 2008 Hyundai, a rental unit, without her permission. He was driving east on Spruce Street and ran a red light, striking a northbound 1996 Ford being driven by Thomas Ackerknecht of Lansford.Tee was charged with driving without a valid license, running a red light and driving while under a DUI suspension.
