A Lansford man was sentenced to a Carbon County jail term on Friday after pleading guilty to a charge of habitual offender.

He was one of six defendants in pending cases to enter a plea before Judge Joseph J. Matika.Lansford incidentKenneth Charles Conklin Jr., 42, of Lansford, also pleaded to one count of driving while under suspension-DUI related.He was arrested on Oct. 3, 2015, by Lansford police along Abbott Street following a traffic stop. At the stop, officers learned he was listed as a habitual offender by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and also had a suspended license for DUI.It was noted Conklin is currently an inmate in the Lehigh County prison where he has other charges pending.On the habitual offender charge Matika sentenced him to serve one to 12 months in prison and on the suspension charge, 30 to 60 days. He must serve the entire 60 days and the term runs consecutive to the first count.He was also ordered to render 50 hours of community service when released from jail and pay a fine of $500 for the suspension charge.Other pleasOther defendants entering guilty pleas included:Tyler Joshua Frantz, 22, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of simple assault.He was charged by Lansford police for an incident on Feb. 6 at 201 E. Kline Ave., where he assaulted his father, Harry Frantz, with a frying pan.Matika sentenced him to time-served (118 days) to one year in jail, make restitution of $660 to his father and render 50 hours of community service when released from jail.Frantz had a detainer filed against him from North Carolina and will be held in the county prison until authorities from North Carolina pick him up.Jonathan Bruce Honey, 25, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of criminal trespass.He was arrested on March 4 by Lansford police for an incident at Krajcirik's Automotive, 343 Patterson St. He took a motorcycle from the impound lot at the facility but was later apprehended.Matika sentenced him to serve 30 days to one year in jail, restitution of $925 for damages to the Krajcirik property, supply a DNA sample, render 50 hours of community service and have no contact with the victim. He was given credit for 49 days spent in jail on the charge and was paroled.Roy Edward Stenger Jr.,37, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of falsification to authorities.He was arrested by Mahoning Township police who received information from state police that Stenger listed a fake address related to registration as a sexual offender under Megan's Law.Sentencing was deferred.John Francis Dotter, 50, of Slatington, pleaded to one count of unsworn falsification to authorities.He was charged by Mahoning Township police for filling out an application to purchase a firearm and failing to note he had a prior criminal conviction.He was placed on probation for a year and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.Rafel Aoberto Batista, 23, of Allentown, pleaded to one count of loitering and prowling at night.He was charged by Nesquehoning police for an incident on Oct. 4, 2015, in the area of 400 W. Coal St.He is in the county prison on a pending probation/parole violation petition.Matika placed him on probation for six months and ordered he render 25 hours of community service when paroled.Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
