Carbon Monarchs get legion win

The Carbon Monarchs posted their first win in Lehigh Valley Legion play, while Towamensing also earned a weekend victory in Keystone Senior Babe Ruth action.

AllentownThe Carbon Monarchs posted their first win ever by outscoring West Allentown, 10-9, on Sunday.The Monarchs, a team comprised of area athletes from Lehighton, Jim Thorpe, Panther Valley and Marian, rallied from an 8-1 deficit to send the game into extra innings, before winning the contest in the eighth frame.Donovan Buchinsky had three hits, one a double, and knocked in a run for Carbon. Derek Joyce added a single, double and two RBIs, while Chris Valdez contributed two hits and two runs scored.Collin Haupt chipped in with a pair of hits, and Jake Burkhart scored three times.
