Carbon man flees police; crashes vehicle, faces DUI

A Carbon County man led state police on a chase early Saturday afternoon, crashing his vehicle and attempting to run away.

He is now in Carbon County prison facing DUI and related charges.State police at Lehighton said the incident began about 12:45 p.m. at Park and Bridge streets, in Weissport where troopers attempted to stop a 2007 Kia Optima with New Jersey registration, for a vehicle code violation. TThe driver of the vehicle, later identified as Carl Lloyd Miller, 31, of Palmerton, failed to stop and a pursuit began. Miller crashed his vehicle in the area of 2575 Long Run Road in Franklin Township a short time later. He then attempted to run but was taken into custody after the arresting trooper used his Taser on Miller.Miller was then transported to the Lehighton hospital for a blood test for suspicion of DUI. Miller was later arraigned before on-call District Judge William Kissner, of Palmerton.Troopers were assisted by police from Franklin and Mahoning townships, Franklin Township Fire Company volunteers, and Lehighton EMS unit.
