Schuylkill County court - probation

Schuylkill County judges have sentenced people charged by local police to probation.

Rebecca C. Beil, 20, of Frackville: Charged by Coaldale police with possession of drug paraphernalia on Oct. 26, 2014.Judge James P. Goodman sentenced her to serve 12 months probation, and to pay court costs and fees.Edward L. Rivera, 31, of Pottsville: Charged by Tamaqua police with possession of drug paraphernalia on Oct. 7, 2015.Judge Charles M. Miller sentenced him to serve six months probation, and to pay out costs and fees.Miller also sentenced Rivera in two other cases.On charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while his license was suspended or revoked, and driving without a valid inspection sticker, Miller sentenced Rivera to 12 months probation, and to pay court costs and fees.The drug paraphernalia and driving without a license charges were dropped.On a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia filed by Tamaqua police on Nov. 16, 2015, Miller sentenced him to 12 months probation, to be served at the same time as his sentence in the second case, and to pay court costs and fees.Heather Bowden, 26, of Pottsville: Charged by Rush Township police with receiving stolen property, retail theft and possession of a controlled substance on Sept. 4, 2015.Miller sentenced her to serve 12 months probation on the possession charge, fined her $25 for retail theft and ordered her to pay court costs and fees.The receiving charge was dropped.Matthew Dutzer,27, of Hazleton: Charged by Rush Township police with receiving stolen property and retail theft on Oct. 5, 2015.Miller sentenced him to serve 18 months probation and to pay court costs and fees.The receiving charge was dropped.Megan R. Maguschak, 24, of Beaver Meadows: Charged by Kline Township police with receiving stolen property, theft by unlawful taking, and retail theft on Aug. 26, 2015.Miller sentenced her to serve 12 months probation, pay $64.91 restitution to Boyer's market, and to pay court costs and fees on the theft by unlawful taking charge.The retail theft and receiving charges were dropped.Alexander J. Modawar,35, of Tamaqua: Charged by Rush Township police with receiving stolen property and retail theft on Aug. 6, 2015.Miller sentenced him to serve 23 months probation, pay $96.26 restitution to Wal-Mart, receive mental health treatment, and to pay court costs and fees on the receiving charge.The retail theft charge was dropped.
