The Carbon Chamber and Economic Development Corporation appointed Carol Obando-Derstine, Regional Affairs Director at PPL Electric Utilities, to its board of directors effective February 2016.

Obando-Derstine is the principal company contact between PPL EU and federal, state, county, and local governments, civic and community organizations, and the news media in Carbon, Lehigh, Northampton, Schuylkill, Bucks, and Montgomery counties. She also provides leadership in addressing important regional issues such as economic growth, educational improvements, and environmental protection.Obando-Derstine has a long history of involvement in the community. Current and past efforts include volunteering with the Girls Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania, United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley, SpeakEZ Toastmasters Club, Nazareth Exchange Club, and Bethlehem Coalition for Quality Education.She earned a bachelor's degree from Rutgers University and a master's degree from Pennsylvania State University.
