NASCAR race forecast: Rain tonight; showers, thunderstorms Sunday

The National Weather Service says severe thunderstorms are possible on Sunday afternoon and evening.

The primary hazard is damaging winds and heavy rain leading to flooding primarily in poor drainage areas.

Today: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 5pm. Patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 82. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 8pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Cloudy, with a low around 68. Southeast wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Sunday: Showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. High near 77. Southeast wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Sunday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 8pm. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 62. West wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 77. West wind 9 to 11 mph.
