Walker Twp. supervisor steps down

Walker Township is in need of a third supervisor now that a township official has opted to step down from his post.

On a 2-0 vote Thursday, supervisors agreed to accept the resignation of Supervisor Leonard Ostergaard.Supervisors said Ostergaard, who also served on the township's planning commission, turned in his resignation letter after the board's meeting last month.Ostergaard's resignation is believed to be due to personal reasons, supervisors said.Supervisors said Ostergaard was asked to reconsider resigning from the board, but declined.Ostergaard, the owner of Heisler's Cloverleaf Dairy, was appointed to the board in February 2014.He took over to fill the seat that had been occupied by former Supervisor Dave Price.Price tendered his resignation to the board, effective Jan. 31, 2014.Supervisors said anyone interested in filling the vacant seat on the township's board of supervisors, the planning commission, or both, should send a letter of intent to the township.The next meeting of the township's board of supervisors is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. July 7.
