A Palmerton motorcyclist was killed in a one-vehicle crash on Friday in Lehigh Township, Northampton County.

Township police said the crash occurred about 2:07 p.m. in the 400 block of Riverview Drive.Police were dispatched to the area for a reported crash involving a motorcycle. On scene officers identified cyclist as Thomas Tsirlemes, 53. He was deceased and the coroner's office was called to the scene.Police said several witnesses said they observed the motorcycle traveling northbound at a high rate of speed.The bike went off the road and onto a stone berm.Tsirlemes did not have a protective helmet and did not possess a valid endorsement to operate a motorcycle, police said.The roadway was closed until about 6 p.m. so police could reconstruct the crash.
