Woman sentenced in theft of money through charity website

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) - A suburban Philadelphia woman has been sentenced to time served to 23 months in the theft of money through what authorities said was a fraudulent charity fundraising page online.

Forty-year-old Traci Kratzer was also ordered Friday in Montgomery County Court to spend five years on probation and do 150 hours of community service.Kratzer pleaded guilty in February to a felony charge of theft by failure to make required disposition of funds received.Authorities said she created an online fundraising page for a friend's husband with pancreatic cancer but kept the money herself. She has already paid the court more than $8,200 in restitution.Kratzer tearfully apologized to the family and former friends, saying the theft stemmed from drug abuse and adding "I can't expect you to ever forgive me."
