The conclusion of the PIAA Track and Field Championships brought another four medals for Times News area athletes.

Jim Thorpe's Brooke Cope placed fifth in the Class AAA javelin with a throw of 139-3 to earn her first state medal.

"It's really nice considering this is my third year here and it's my first time getting a medal," Cope said.

In addition to Cope, Marina's Dominic Mussoline and Tamaqua's Monika Shimko each took eighth in the boys and girls Class AA 800,

respectively. Both finished with personal bests. Mussoline crossed the line in 1:55.44 while Shimko finished in 2:18.56.

Palmerton's Logan Blasiak took eighth in the Class AA pole vault, clearing 13-6.
