Palmerton's Spencer Hay is a state champion.

Hay, a senior, won the PIAA Class AA state championship in high jump Friday afternoon. The PIAA state Track & Field Championships at Shippensburg University continue through tomorrow.

Hay's winning jump was 6-foot-8-inch, which is also a Palmerton school record.

Hay was one of two jumpers who cleared 6-foot-7 before he made his winning jump.

Hay was also a 1,000-point for the Blue Bombers basketball team and was named Times News boys basketball player of the year.
