Monroe county woman charged after domestic dispute

A 62-year-old Monroe County woman is accused of threatening to kill her boyfriend and damaging his vehicle.

State police charged Mary Catherine Bellis, of Effort, in connection with a domestic incident that occurred Wednesday, May 25.

The incident occurred around 6:15 p.m. A 62-year-old male, identified as Bellis' boyfriend, told police that she threatened to kill him and specified that she would use her gun.

He said that Bellis then took an ax and a hammer and smashed the windows of his vehicle.

Bellis was arrested and arraigned on charges of terroristic threats, simple assault, harassment, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief, and possessing instruments of a crime. She was released on $2,500 unsecured bail.

A preliminary hearing has been set for June 10.
