Big weekend for Furey

Mike Furey of Summit Hill got a hole-in-one on Sunday at the Mahoning Valley Country Club.

Furey got his ace on the 157-yard, par-3 13th hole. He used a nine-iron.Furey was playing with Steve Nesgoda at the time. It was the third hole-in-one of his career.However, he had a very exciting 48-hour stretch.Furey and well over 100 Philadelphia area PGA professionals participated in the Laurel Creek Classic in Mount Laurel, New Jersey on Monday.After a weather delay, Furey posted a five-under-par score of 66. He recorded six birdies en route to his first-ever Philadelphia PGA tournament victory."It feels great to get this win today", explained Furey to Philadelphia's section of PGA.com. "I played really good today and putted even better. I think the weather delay worked to my advantage and help to calm my nerves. I hoping I can take this momentum into the next week and the rest of the year."Furey won the tournament by two strokes.
