State police have said an investigation into the shooting deaths of two men in a home near Slatington on Wednesday night has determined it was an isolated incident specific to those men and the public is not in danger.

The victims were identified by state police as Joseph S. Sommer Jr., 48, and Harry R. Bortz Jr., 34, both of Northampton.

State police said the incident that resulted in their deaths occurred at a private residence in the 6700 block of Washington Township between 10:30 and 11 p.m.

State police, the Lehigh County District Attorney's Office, and Lehigh County Coroner's Office are investigating the deaths of the two men.
