Memorial Parade

Tamaqua's Memorial Day Parade will be held at 10 a.m. Monday. The parade will form at the east end of town and march to the Odd Fellows Cemetery, where the 148th Annual Memorial Day service will be held.The Tamaqua Raider Marching Band will be participating in the parade. Earl Bridygham Jr. of Reynolds will be the parade grand marshal, while retired Army Col. Hank Steinhilber, chaplain, will be the featured speaker.Tamaqua American Legion C.H. Berry Post 173 will provide the honor guard.St. John LutheranThe Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at this Sunday's 9:15 a.m. worship service in St. John's Lutheran Church.The church office is now following summer hours, which are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Thursday.Zion LewistownZion Church of the Lewistown Valley will be host for a combined Memorial Day service at 10:30 a.m. this Sunday. The service will be followed by a covered dish dinner.Upcoming activities include a basket raffle on June 4 and Vacation Bible School, from 6 to 8:15 p.m., June 6-10, at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle.St. Peter's UnionSunday worship services in St. Peter's Union Church in Mantzville are held at 9 a.m. Sunday school classes will meet at 10:15 a.m.Also this Sunday, a Memorial Day service will be held at 11 a.m. at Zion's Stone Church and Cub and Girl Scouts will meet at 6 p.m.Next week's activities include: Tuesday, prayer group meets at 5 p.m., called to care group meets at 6 p.m.; Thursday, senior choir rehearses at 7:30 p.m.Holy Communion will be celebrated on June 5.Contact Kathy Kunkel at 570-668-1250 or
