Wanted Weissport man is apprehended

A Weissport man who police tried to apprehend on active warrants on file for his arrest fled on foot on Sundayin what police are calling an escape case. In a separate report, police said he was apprehended the next day and a man who tried to hinder his apprehension was also arrested.

Lawney Lee Strohl, 48, of 223 White St., was wanted on misdemeanor warrants, according to state police at the Lehighton barracks.Police said he was driving a vehicle that was stopped for traffic violations at 4:28 p.m. Sunday in the 300 block of White Street in Bowmanstown, after which time he fled the scene.The next day, police said they apprehended Strohl and also arrested Jeffrey Scott Levan, 46, of 296 Court St., Lehighton, after police received information that Strohl was hiding at Levan's residence.Police said both men were taken into custody without incident and Levan was charged with hindering apprehension.
