Barnesville man cited in McAdoo

A Barnesville man was cited by McAdoo police after he provided false information at a traffic stop.

An officer was monitoring traffic at 9:44 p.m. on March 8 when he saw a silver Nissan Xterra driving on North Kennedy Drive. The driver's side head light was out, leading the officer to conduct a traffic stop. The driver, later identified as Eric Christopher, initially gave police a different first name and provided a date of birth to match that name when run through the database. When Christopher was told his license had expired in May of 2015 he said he was in the U.S. Navy and home on two weeks leave. He didn't have his other license with him.Weeks later the officer discovered that the person with the initial name Christopher had given is indeed in the U.S. Navy, and was deployed overseas at the time of the traffic stop. A database search identified Eric Christopher, 22, of Barnesville, as the driver of the Xterra that night. He has been cited for driving with a suspended license and providing false identification.
