Man charged with pushing wife out of car

A Lansford man is in prison and facing aggravated assault and other charges after he pushed his wife out of their moving car, police say.

Corey Schlier Jr., 28, of 328 E. Bertsch St., is also charged with simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, harassment after the April 26 incident.According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by Lansford officer Joshua Tom, here's what happened:At about 11 a.m. April 26, Tom was called to the Rite Aid store because a woman,had gone into the store saying her husband had pushed her out of a moving car.She had scrapes and deep cuts on her arms and stomach, and told police she was in pain.The woman told police the assault began in their home, where her husband punched or elbowed her in the face and slammed her head into a wooden door.She said she was in serious pain, and her husband said he would take her to the hospital. But as they were headed there, he decided to go to his father's house instead, she told police.She demanded to be let out, and Corey Schlier slowed down. She started opening the passenger side door, and he pushed her out.Corey Schlier was taken into custody at his father's house. He was given his Miranda rights and gave police a written statement.Schlier was arraigned before District Judge Casimir Kosciolek of Lansford. A preliminary hearing was held May 4, and the charges sent to Carbon County court.Schlier remains in the county jail under $100,000 percentage bail.
