May 14, 1992 - Jim Thorpe's softball team clinches the first girls title in school history after defeating Freeland MMI, 13-1. The victory gives the Lady Olympians, coached by Ray Heiser, the Schuylkill League Division II-North championship with a 13-1 record. Marcia King and Jen Karper both collect two hits, while Kristen Heiser, Tammy Mullen and Bobi Lienhard drive in runs during the first two innings, which produce nine runs. Lienhard earns the pitching win, allowing five hits while striking out eight.
