SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) - A former Pennsylvania financial planner who worked at 11 investment firms and was ousted from at least six of them has been charged with defrauding investors through the sale of high-risk investment products.

Federal prosecutors in Scranton say 48-year-old Anthony Diaz of East Stroudsburg ran the investment scheme between 2006 and 2015. The charges involve six investments totaling $293,000 that he sold over a 17-month span.Diaz was arraigned Thursday and pleaded not guilty.Prosecutors say Diaz provided false information concerning his clients' net worth, income and risk tolerance to make it appear they met the eligibility requirements for the products, failed to tell clients the risk of the investments and falsely guaranteed them a rate of return.State and federal regulators have permanently banned Diaz from the securities industry.
