Doctor accused of assaulting woman during patient visit

A doctor who served on Lehigh Valley Health Network's board of trustees has been accused of assaulting a woman who brought her child to an Allentown hospital for a scheduled visit.

Jarret Royce Patton, 43, of Exeter Township, Berks County, was charged with misdemeanor indecent assault May 11.The charges were announced by the Lehigh County District Attorney's Office on Wednesday.Authorities said that during an office visit that occurred on Feb. 25, 2016, Patton repeatedly rubbed his genitals up against a woman whose child was one of his patients.The alleged assault occurred in an exam room at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Allentown, located at 17th and Chew streets in Allentown.The woman told police that during the alleged assault she was unable to move away from Patton because he positioned his 6-foot-5-inch, 230-pound body so that she could not.She told authorities that Patton repeatedly rubbed up against her during the visit. She also reported that at one point, Patton reached behind her for a piece of equipment, "grinding himself into her leg and rubbing her back at the same time."The district attorney's office said that Patton will be arraigned on the charges in the near future.According to the hospital's 2015 annual report, Patton had served as President of its Medical Group, served on LVHN's board of trustees, and its senior management council.Patton's profile has been deleted from the health network's website. LVHN did not reply to an email inquiring about Patton's employment status.In the news release, the District Attorney's Office noted that Lehigh Valley Health Network and the Lehigh Valley Physicians Group cooperated fully with the investigation.
