Tamaqua police have charged Melissa Lee Kuzo, 25, of 4 Dogwood Lane, Nesquehoning, in connection with an incident on April 11.

Police were dispatched to 312 Biddle St., at 6:32 p.m. where they spoke with a witness who saw Kuzo toss two syringes and several wax packets suspected to contain heroin into a storm sewer drain. The drain was located at Greenwood and Biddle streets. The witness also stated that Kuzo had removed approximately $250 in coins from a child's piggy bank at 312 Biddle St.Officers were able to retrieve the syringes and three empty wax packets from the drain.Kuzo was charged with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia.
