Child killed, 8 hurt when car crosses into oncoming traffic

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Police say a child was killed and eight people were injured when a car crossed into oncoming traffic in Philadelphia and collided with another car.

Police say a car traveling northbound with three adults and four children crossed over the center line Sunday around 4 p.m. and collided with a southbound car carrying two adults. Two children in the first car were ejected.Fire Capt. Clifford Gilliam tells KYW-TV five adults and four children were hospitalized.A child between 5 and 7 years old was pronounced dead at the hospital. A baby remains in critical condition at an area hospital.The identities of those involved weren't immediately released.Investigators say alcohol isn't believed to have contributed to the crash.
