The UVO consists of veterans from all branches of the military.

In Lehighton, the youngest member is in his early 40s and the oldest is 81.It provides color guard details for programs, ceremonies, community events, parades and the like.It also provides honor guard details for military funerals and memorial services."We've done 13 military funerals already this year," said David Bryfogle, UVO vice commander."If another town doesn't have a UVO and they want us there, we'll travel. It's a bond that nobody really understands. We put in the countless hours because we are here for the veterans and the community."The group is currently working on a ceremony for September 2017 to honor the 100-year anniversary of troops leaving Lehighton for World War I.
