Tamaqua teen has attained Scouting's highest rank

Bradley R. McAloose of Tamaqua was awarded the highest rank in Boy Scouts of America, the Eagle Scout rank.

He is the son of Tina McAloose and the grandson of Robert L. McAloose and Annabelle P. McAloose. Bradley embarked on his scouting adventures while in second grade and has been involved with scouting since first becoming a Cub Scout in Lansford.Throughout the years Bradley earned 39 merit badges. He was involved in numerous fundraisers, including popcorn and hoagie sales. Some of the Scout activities included camping at various locations, including a week stay in Canada.His final Eagle project was the "International Peace Pole Project" registered with the Peace Pole Society in New York. The slogan of the Peace Pole is "May Peace Prevail on Earth" and is written in four languages. It is dedicated to the town of Tamaqua on Route 309 near Depot Square, across from the train station.Bradley was granted citations from state Sen. David G. Argall (who is an Eagle Scout), state Rep. Jerry Knowles, U.S. Rep. Matthew A. Cartwright and Schuylkill County Commissioners George F. Halcovage, Frank J. Staudenmeier and Gary Hess.Bradley was honored with a reception presented by his family, above dignitaries, family, friends and Scouts and leaders from Troop 777, Tamaqua.
