A Lansford man had four criminal cases scheduled for preliminary hearings before District Judge Stephen Bayer, of Tamaqua, on April 13.

Anthony J. Napolitano, 31, of 346 Bertsch St., waived three of the cases to the Schuylkill County court level, while charges in the fourth case were withdrawn.Napolitano faced multiple charges in incidents from Dec. 24, 2015. Rush Township patrolman Lucas Fox charged him with retail theft and criminal conspiracy in one set of charges, while McAdoo Police Chief Jeffrey Wainwright charged him with receiving stolen property, fleeing/eluding police, reckless endangerment, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, driving with a suspended license, careless driving, failure to stop at a posted sign, failure to yield and reckless driving.Recognizance bail was set for the Rush department's charges, while the McAdoo charges earned him a bail of $10,000, which was modified from percentage to unsecured at his preliminary hearing.A third set of charges from the incident, filed by Rush Township patrolman Douglas Litwhiler, were withdrawn. They included fleeing and various traffic violations.The fourth case was brought by state trooper Thomas Powell in connection with a Jan. 21 incident. In that case, Napolitano was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.He was released on his own recognizance.Derek Anthony Shellhamer, 29, of 558 State Road, Barnesville, was also scheduled for multiple hearings before Bayer. The first case was brought by Tamaqua Patrolman Anthony Stanell after a May 6, 2015 incident. In that case, Shellhamer was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.He waived the hearings to court and was released on his own recognizance.In the second case, filed by Tamaqua police chief Richard Weaver, the charges were possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.Shellhamer again waived the charges and was released on $25,000 unsecured bail.Matthew Lawrence Plieth,27, of 721 E. Patterson St., Lansford, was in court on charges related to two arrests.Rush Township Patrolman Robert Bechtel charged him with theft by deception in connection with a Jan. 7 incident. Bechtel also charged him with receiving stolen property and conspiracy in connection with a second incident on the same date.Both hearings were waived. Bail was set at $10,000 unsecured in one case and recognizance in the second case.Monica Russop,50, of Tamaqua, elected to waive charges of theft by deception and receiving stolen property (four counts each) to the county court. Four counts of forgery charges were withdrawn by the arresting officer, Tamaqua Cpl. Henry Woods. The charges stem from a Sept. 17, 2015 incident.Russop was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.Dominic B. Asquith, 31, who has no permanent address, waived his hearing on charges of possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia (two counts each) and providing false identification to law enforcement (one count).Bail was set at $25,000 straight cash at his arraignment on Feb. 25 but was modified on April 13.Asquith was then released on his own recognizance.
