Builders association's outdoor expo moves to Split Rock

The Carbon Builders Association's annual Home Business and Outdoor Expo has a new location.

The free event will take place this weekend at Split Rock Resort in Lake Harmony."Its going to be a better show," said Debbie Kleckner-Kichline, secretary and executive officer of the Carbon Builders Association.During theshow, businesses will mix with nonprofits and service companies for more exposure to the community.The Carbon Builders Association has been hosting the expo since 1994 in different locations."Everyone has asked us why we moved. Split Rock is now under new management and renovated. There are two areas in sports complex that allows us to do home show and entertainment all on the same floor. It's one of the few places in Carbon County that has something like that," she said.Attendees can look forward to smaller businesses on display alongside larger well-known companies in the area."This year we have a small flag store and nonprofit food bank Summit Hill Heritage Center that provides hot meals and food to local churches around the holiday time. We have companies like iServe lenders who specialize in assisting military families find funding for homes, and the Blue Ridge Chapter of Dream Come True."Door prizes were donated by R.F. Ohl of Lehighton and Aerus Electrolux of Kingston.Kleckner-Kichline said first-time businesses will bring something different to the springtime show."This year's Expo is actually a 'show within a show,' " said Kleckner-Kichline. "Fairway motors will bring new and unique cars and trucks to the show. 903 Landscaping Supply will be there. A passive health display by Kehm Designs and Consulting from Germansville will be set up. It has to do with net-zero energy use. They've received awards for their passive health and net-zero energy work."Dr. Lori's Antiques Appraisal Show will also take place during the expo.Lori Verderame stars on the Discovery Channel as an antiques appraiser on the channel's reality show "Auction Kings." She also appears on the Fox Business Network's "Strange Inheritance" and has been featured on NBC's "The Tonight Show" and Comedy Central's "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart." She will be featured in two shows per day through the expo where those in attendance can view Dr. Lori's Show for free."Anyone who wishes to have items appraised may purchase an appraisal for $25," said Kleckner-Kichline.Exhibit spaces may still be available for local businesses to showcase products or services. Expo exhibitor business owners often network during the event or shop other vendors' booths over the two-day affair.Kleckner-Kichline said, "This is your opportunity to put a name on your face for your potential customer. Being at the right place at the right time will help you build new business relationships."Penn's Peak Radio will be on hand to broadcast the event live with a ticket giveaway contests being held on the Carbon County Expo Facebook page."The Carbon County Business and Outdoor Expo is the most anticipated networking event of the year.
