Tamaqua man sentenced to state prison in theft case

A Tamaqua man admitted to a theft incident in Carbon County court on Tuesday and was sentenced to a state prison term.

Daniel Hobo Donovan, 41, appeared before Judge Joseph J. Matika on a charge of theft by deception, to which he entered a plea.State police at Hazleton charged Donovan after receiving a complaint froma Banks Township man on or about Aug. 31, 2015. The man saw a listing for a Ford Ranger truck on Craigslist and contacted Donovan, who was the seller. He met with Donovan and agreed to purchase the truck and gave the defendant $500 as a deposit. Donovan never delivered the truck.Donovan was recently sentenced in Schuylkill County court to serve two and a half to five years in a state prison on unrelated charges.Matika sentenced him to serve six to 24 months in a state prison, but ran it concurrent with the Schuylkill term. Donovan was also ordered to make restitution of $500 to the victim.- Den McLaughlin
