Lansford Borough is currently undergoing a streetscaping project aimed at beautifying the town's commercial corridor along Ridge Street.
But vandals, who have since been caught, put a damper on what is supposed to be a positive project by defacing a freshly poured concrete sidewalk earlier this week.Borough police posted a picture of the damage to the streetscaping project Tuesday, asking for the vandal or vandals to come forward."(This) is the cleanest photo of the damage as vulgarities were scrawled into the concrete," the post read.An officer on duty, Josh Tom, was able to fix the damage, according to borough councilwoman Rose Mary Cannon. That saved four sidewalk sections from having to be replaced by the borough. The juveniles were ultimately tracked down, according to police, but their identities have not been released. The site has since been secured, but borough police are still asking residents to be vigilant. They have asked for anyone who sees anything suspicious at the work site to call 911 or the police station at 570-645-5844.
