Pleasant Valley receives $15K anonymous gift

Recently Pleasant Valley Superintendent Carole Geary received a surprise by way of a letter along with a check in the amount of $15,000. The letter, signed anonymous, comes from the mother of one of its teachers. The woman won the Pennsylvania Cash 5 in January.

In her letter the donor describes how her daughter asked her to donate the money to the district and instructs the district to "use the money for things that you could not afford in your budget."The letter speaks of the daughter's pride in and her love of the district."She talks about how Pleasant Valley has made her a stronger person and how she continues to stand up for kids and do what's right."The letter concludes by thanking the district."I want all of you to know how special each of you are and how grateful I am to know that my daughter is working in a school district where she not only is proud to call herself a 'bear' but she is now a part of an even bigger family."The donation is to be split between each of the schools in the district in the amount of $2,500 per school and for special education. The last $2,500 is left to the district's discretion. The letter states that the money must be spent by June 30.
