A Schuylkill County couple was injured, one seriously, when their motorcycle crashed along a Schuylkill County road on Saturday.
State police at Frackville said John Bova, 53, of Shenandoah, was driving a 2008 Harley Davidson bike southbound on Route 924, near the Eagle Rock resort, at 4:39 p.m.Two vehicles were in front of him when the first began to slow down near the entrance to Eagle Rock without its right turn signal activated. This vehicle turned right into the resort, at which time the operator activated his right turn signal.The vehicle directly in front of Bova was able to stop in time to avoid striking the turning vehicle. Bova was unable to stop in time, braked hard and then laid his bike down onto the road to avoid striking the vehicle in front of him. The bike came to rest on the northbound lane of travel.Bova's passenger, Bonnie Bova, 42, was thrown off the bike and came to rest in the southbound lane. She sustained serious head injuries, troopers said, and was transported to the Geisinger Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre.John Bova sustained a back injury and was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital - Hazleton Campus. Neither of the injured were wearing protective helmets, troopers said.Anyone who witnessed this crash or know the operator of the gray/light blue sport utility vehicle that made the right turn, is asked to call troopers at 570-864-5300.
