The lane restriction will be in place 24 hours a day until the project concludes, which is expected to be Thursday, Jim Thorpe Borough Council President Greg Strubinger announced Thursday night."Traffic will be slow and an alternate route should be considered if at all possible," Strubinger said.Jim Thorpe Mayor Michael Sofranko suggested the borough use its call notification system to inform residents.Flaggers will be out to help guide traffic through the area."It's an inconvenience, but it really came down to working around the clock and getting it done in three days, or doing it stretches at a time and taking three weeks," borough manager Maureen Sterner said.PennDOT will also be working on the following road projects this week.Carbon County• 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday: Bridge inspection work on Route 443 between Route 209 and East Penn Street and Mahoning Mountain Road.
