The Broad Mountain and the routes 93-209 intersection in Nesquehoning have been the sites of a number of tractor-trailer crashes in recent years. Here is a snapshot of the tractor-trailer crashes in that area from Times News archives since the redesigned runaway truck ramp opened in 2008.

• June 5, 2008: New Jersey driver forced to use runaway truck ramp after air brakes warning light starts blinking. Truck travels to top of the ramp, driver tries to back down and wheels sink into the stone.• June 20, 2008: Michigan driver fails to stop at the top and uses the ramp.• July 31, 2008: Rig slams through intersection, tips on its side and hits an embankment. Minnesota driver pinned under cab and critically injured.• Feb. 15, 2011: Truck loses brakes, strikes Route 93 guardrail before the tank is ripped from tractor and slides down embankment.• September 2011: Heavy rainstorm washes out portions of the ramp, which is closed until PennDOT makes repairs.• March 19, 2013: Truck jackknifes on Route 93 during snowstorm; road closed.• Dec. 11, 2013: Florida driver tries to back up at intersection, goes over guardrail.• April 29, 2015: Georgia driver injured after his rig fails to stop and rolls at intersection.• Nov. 5, 2015: Bethlehem driver for Kritsak Trucking of Allentown loses brakes, tries to swerve at intersection, rolls rig onto the property of Dennis Creitz, taking out fence.• Nov. 16, 2015: Juarez, Mexico, driver uses runaway ramp.• Jan. 1, 2016: Driver fails to stop at the top, loses brakes, uses ramp.• March 14, 2016: Iowa driver loses brakes, uses ramp, which stops vehicle halfway up the incline.• March 31, 2016: Rhode Island driver with truck carrying eight brand-new Jeeps fails to stop at the top, loses brakes, barrels through intersection. Rig rolls, smashing the vehicles it was carrying.• April 1, 2016: New Jersey driver fails to stop at the top, loses brakes, barrels through intersection, slams through shed on Creitz's property and into a hill.• April 2, 2016: Minnesota driver fails to stop at pull-off, uses the runaway ramp, which failed, allowing rig to ascend hill, drive off the end and into the woods, where it lodged itself between two trees.- Amy Miller
