Charges filed over inmate fight

Charges have been filed against a Monroe County woman for fighting at the Monroe County Correctional Facility.

Kelly Gannon, 29, of East Stroudsburg, has been charged with simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and harassment.The charges were filed by Detective Kim Lippincott of the Monroe County District Attorney's Office following an investigation into an alleged fight at the correctional facility.On April 10, Gannon, an inmate, attacked another inmate, Stephanie Veley, while inside H Unit (female unit). The H Unit is monitored by video surveillance.Video footage shows Gannon getting up out of her chair and approaching Veley. Gannon grabbed her by her hair and began striking her with a closed fist.Video showed that other inmates were able to break the two apart until Gannon broke free and went after Veley a second time, grabbing her by her hair and striking her again.Correctional officers disrupted the fight, and Gannon and Veley were sent for medical evaluations within the facility.Gannon had a bloody nose, and Veley suffered lacerations on her face.Gannon will appear before District Magistrate JoLana Krawitz of Stroudsburg at a later date.
