Polk Township supervisors recently discussed the crosswalk along Route 534 by the Valor Clinic. The township met with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and Mark Balas of Valor Clinic to discuss the crosswalk.

"Just standing there along the road in that area, with the cars speeding by, I didn't feel safe," said township solicitor James Fareri.PennDOT informed the township that it did not have a problem with the crosswalk, but that if the township requested, they would provide the township with "Pedestrian Crossing" signs for the township to install.After discussing the matter further, the township agreed to request PennDOT to consider reducing the speed limit in that area and installing a number of signs warning motorists that people might be crossing the road in that area.
