SALISBURY TOWNSHIP - It's been almost a year, but Northwestern senior Jake Augustus can remember it clear as day.

Salisbury and Northwestern met three times on the baseball field last year. Both regular season meetings didn't go the Tigers' way, especially the first on the Falcons' home grass."We came down here and they kicked our butt," said Augustus, who pitched that game. "We were out of here in the fourth or fifth inning…We had them, and then Cooperman hit a home run off of me."Augustus had his chance for revenge on Wednesday. He didn't waste it. Augustus pitched a complete game and Northwestern cruised to a 7-2 victory over the Falcons at Salisbury High School."He took this a little personally," head coach Duran Porrino said. "I like that. You have to find some type of inside motivation to get pumped up."The Tiger offense made Augustus' outing easier with a three-run first inning.Augustus walked to start it, followed by a Tyler Schreiner single and Salisbury error in the outfield that put both runners in scoring position. Brady Mengel came through in the next at-bat with a single to shortstop that scored Augustus.After Schreiner scored on a Salisbury wild pitch to make it 2-0, Tyler Wiik kept Northwestern's momentum rolling with an RBI-single to make it 3-0 with one out in the top of the first."That basically got the ball rolling," Mengel said. "Once we got three, we knew we could open this game up early, and hopefully keep the ball rolling and take it into the seventh for the win."Salisbury (2-4 overall, 2-4 Colonial League) scored one run in each of the first and second innings, but the three early runs were enough insurance for Augustus and Northwestern (6-2 overall, 5-1 in Colonial League)."Taking the mound in the first inning when I already knew I had three runs, I was so confident in our team that we could hold them," Augustus said.Augustus started Northwestern's scoring string in the fourth with a single to open the frame. He later crossed home after Mengel reached base on an error, and Schreiner scored on a wild pitch that increased the Tigers' lead to 5-2.Trevor Schreiner recorded his third single of the game in the sixth that scored Niko Fager. Mengel added an insurance run in the seventh with an RBI single that brought home Tyler Schreiner."We gave up some runs, and we got a little momentum back," Pochron said. "We made some mistakes which hurt us and cost us a run. We just continue to make too many mistakes and hurt ourselves. We can't afford to make mistakes and make errors and put people on base."BACK ON TRACK. ... After being shut out against Bangor (their first of the season) on Monday, the Tigers' offense regained its early season form with 15 hits. "Against Bangor, we only had two hits," Augustus said. "The way we came back and hit the ball today was awesome to see as a captain."STILL PERFECT. ...
