Road work to begin on routes 443 and 902

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation District 5 has announced that Route 443 will be resurfaced in West Penn Township beginning Thursday. The project includes milling, patching, paving, guardrail upgrades and new pavement markings on Route 443 between Route 309 and the Carbon County line.

Motorists should anticipate daytime lane closures on this section from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.There may be occasional weekend lane closures. Work is expected to be complete by August.Lehigh Asphalt Paving & Construction Co. in Tamaqua is the general contractor on the $2,588,400 project. The pavement improvement project is financed with state funds from the state's transportation plan, Act 89.Route 902 will be resurfaced in Mahoning Township and Summit Hill borough in Carbon County beginning Thursday.Work is expected to be complete by mid-September. The project includes patching, paving, guardrail upgrades and new pavement markings on the route between Mahoning Drive and East Holland Street.Work will run from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays with possible daytime lane closures.
