The Friends of Beltzville State Park have invited the public to a film screening and discussion about the life of famous conservationist Gifford Pinchot, who also served as Pennsylvania's governor.
It kicks off Thursday, April 14 at 6:30 p.m., at the park's Environmental Interpretive Center, located at 2950 Pohopoco Drive, Lehighton, Pa. 18235.
The event will celebrate one of Pennsylvania's leading conservation heroes with help from the Pennsylvania Conservation Heritage Project, the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, the Pennsylvania Parks & Forests Foundation and the Friends of Beltzville State Park.
Gifford Pinchot was a towering figure in conservation history, in Pennsylvania and indeed, throughout the United States. This new film is a reminder of his contributions from the first Chief of the US Forest Service through service as Pennsylvania's governor.
A presentation by special guest William Dauer of the Grey Towers National Historic Site (The Pinchot family home in Milford) rounds out the evening.
Light refreshments will be served. The event is funded in part by the William Penn Foundation.
